these are cookies that an old friend of the family use to make for me every year growing up, over 40 years ago, I now have the recipe to make them myself.
ingredients
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup butter (2 stick), softened
- 2 cup LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin
- 2 large egg
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Glaze Colored sprinkles, if desired
FOR GLAZE: COMBINE 4 cups sifted powdered sugar, 6 tablespoons milk, 2 tablespoon melted butter and 2 teaspoon vanilla extract in small bowl until smooth.

- PREHEAT oven to 350° F.
- Grease baking sheets. (I prefer to use parchment paper or liner)
- COMBINE flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in medium bowl.
- Beat sugar and butter in large mixer bowl until well blended.
- Beat in pumpkin, egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually beat in flour mixture.
- Drop by rounded tablespoon onto prepared baking sheets.
- BAKE for 15 to 18 minutes or until edges are firm.
- Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
- Drizzle Glaze over cookies and add colored sprinkles, if desired.
- Recipe makes approx 6 dozen of cookies can cut recipe in half if you would like less, depends of the size that you make.
- Can use tablespoon or teaspoon to drop them, according to your preference.
- If use you tablespoon about 6 dozen if you use teaspoon about 12 dozen.
