Chicken Cordon Bleu

description

easy gourmet, just put it together and bake!

ingredients

6 chicken breasts
6 slices of swiss cheese (can substitute muenster, provolone, etc)
1 egg
1 cup bread crumbs
6 slices ham
butter (to grease pan)

directions

1) preheat oven to 350 degrees
2) flatten chicken breasts to 1/2-1/4 inch thick
3) mix/whip the egg in a bowl, and dip one side of the chicken in the egg
4) immediately lay the egg-dipped side of the chicken in bread crumbs to coat
5) while the chicken is still laying in the bread crumbs, lay a ham slice on the bare side of the chicken
6) top the ham slice with a cheese slice, and tuck the sides of ham around the edges of the cheese (to help keep the cheese from melting and running out of the chicken while baking)
7) roll the chicken up (sleeping bag style) with the ham and cheese inside
8) grease pan or cookie sheet with butter, and place all 6 rolled up chicken breasts on the pan about 1-2 inches apart (feel free to use toothpicks to keep the chicken rolled, if needed)
9) bake for 30 minutes
10) serve immediately, while cheese is still melted, and feel free to sprinkle on top with additional cheese
