Russian Sauteed Cabbage

description

Cabbage cooked in chicken stock and tomato sauce

ingredients

1 Medium head of cabbage

2 carrots

1 small onion

1 clove of garlic

2-3 cups chicken stock

1 cup water

1 small can of tomato sauce ( regular)

1 tbsp of salt

1 tbsp of black pepper

directions

Dice cabbage into small pieces Shred carrots Dice onion and garlic

1. cook onion and garlic in pan until onion becomes translucent

2. add cabbage and shredded carrots into the pan

3. add salt and pepper to cabbage and carrots and lightly mix in pan

4. pour can of tomato sauce over the top of the cabbage and carrot mixture, then pour over the chicken stock.

5. Turn heat up and once the liquid starts bubbling lower the heat to low medium and cook until cabbage softens.

** If the chicken stock evaporates quick then add another cup of chicken stock or water so that there is enough liquid to soften up the cabbage If you like meat you can cook meat in the pan with the onion and garlic and then add the cabbage etc..and follow the rest of the instructions.. really good and easy perfect with potatoes
