ingredients

  • One medium onion
  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
    Batter
  • 5 Tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 pinch salt/pepper
  • 8 oz. beer
    Seasoned Flour
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pinch cayenne powder
  • 1 pinch pepper
    Mustard Sauce
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/8 cup ketchup
  • 1/8 chili sauce
  • 1/3 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • 1/8 cup olive oil
  • 1 sqeeze juice of one lemon

directions

  1. Onion Slices
  2. Slice the onion into bite sized pieces of desired size.
  3. Mix the batter ingredients until well combined in one bowl, and mix the seasoned flour ingredients in another.
  4. Preheat the vegetable oil, it needs to be at 350 degrees for frying. You need enough oil to cover about half of the onion.
  5. Dip the onion slices in the seasoned flour, then in the batter. Carefully drop the onions into the vegetable oil (without creating a splash, it's best to place on a wooden or deep fry spoon and carefully lower into the oil)
  6. Cook on each side until golden brown and remove from the oil. Let the excess oil drain on a paper towel.
  7. Comeback Sauce
  8. Mix all ingredients together, it's best to let it then refrigerate for at least an hour, but overnight is ideal. Serve with warm onion slices and enjoy!
