The STAR of the party!!

ingredients

  • 1 (8oz) can crushed Pineapple
  • 1 (8oz) container whipped topping
  • 1 (8oz) package of cream cheese, room temp
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 3 tbsp sugar PLUS 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 (10oz) packages frozen strawberries
  • 2 (3oz) packages strawberry gelatin dessert mix
  • 2 cups BOILING water
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • whipped cream to garnish

directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. for the crust: mix pretzels, butter, 3 tablespoons of sugar
  3. press that mixture into a 9x13 pan and bake for 7 minutes, set aside to cool
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat together Cream Cheese and 3/4 cup of sugar
  5. Fold in the Whipped Topping, then spread over cooled crust
  6. Refrigerate until well chilled
  7. In a smaller bowl, dissolve the gelatin with the boiling water, let cool slightly
  8. Add the strawberries and pineapple to the gelatin mix and pour over cream cheese mixture
  9. Refrigerate until serving time
  10. Cut into servings and serve with a little whipped topping

Can whipped cream be used in place of the topping? Whipped topping has a lot bad stuff it and I would prefer healthy alternative.
