Sausage and Peppers. Excellent Sandwich, can also be eaten as an appetizer or side dish... or dessert! It's just that good :)

ingredients

  • 2 lbs Italian Sausage Links (I prefer the spicy, but mild can be used as well)
  • 3 - 4 bell peppers - color preference is up to you
  • 2 med onions
  • Seasonings (I used garlic salt, Italian seasoning and black pepper)
  • 8 dinner rolls - (try to avoid too thick of bread, the filling should be the star - not the bread - I used Ciabatta rolls)
  • 8 slices Provolone cheese

directions

  • Preheat Oven to 375 degrees
  • Brown your Sausage Links over medium heat a few minutes on each side (Does not need to cook all the way through - just to get color)
  • While sausage is browning, slice onions and peppers into strips
  • Place first onions, then peppers in a baking dish
  • Season liberally with black pepper, Italian seasoning and garlic salt
  • Place browned sausages over the mixture, cover with foil and place in oven
  • Bake at 375 for approximately 45 - 50 minutes
  • Add slice of provolone Cheese to sliced dinner rolls and spoon mixture and sausage link over top
  • Enjoy!
